So i was informed today from the dealer that my R has an HP kit on it. sorry to be so uninformed about the subject but what is the HP kit doing for me? i have heard of them before but never knew what they added to the bike. any information would be great.

Thanks,
Nate

He's probably talking about the HRC kit. They're a little different 04/05 to 06.

That is the airbox lid I was talking about in the other post.

Basically what this kit does for you is allows the motor to breath and open up better than how they are sold completely stock. It is just a kit that Honda sells to help give the bikes more performance and they are a great addition to the 450r.

yeah thats the end cap that i have on mine. so it just makes it breath better? what about running it with no airbox lid? would that help any or even be worth taking off?

It would help let it breath a little more, but I think some people have a little more trouble getting the jetting correct if tehy take it off. I like to keep mine on because I race a winter series with a lot of mud and water and running with the hrc lid helps keep some of the mud and stuff off the filter, but you may not ride in places like that.

no i do ride in a lot of mud and water. if its not cold outside and i see some mud/water...i hit it. so i will probably leave it on.
