View Full Version : swing-arm bolt

I have an '82 atc250r with front swingarm bearings that are worn.
I tried tapping the bolt out and it won't budge, seems like the right side is corroded together.
What are some ways of freeing up the bolt?
Would heating the stuck side up with a torch help to break it free?
Thanks for your help,
John

I know if you can either soak it in oil or just spraying some vegetable oil usually does the trick. I have had some stick on me before and that always seem to work. Just let it sit on it for awhile and you will be able to tap that sucker right out. Good luck

try getting the rust loose with wd40 and use some type of oil to lube it up, if it does come out then, make sure the rust is gone and heat it up and wack it out, hope this works...... isnt this the motor forum?

I had the same problem....i ended up cuttin mine with a reciprocating saw...i dont really recommend it...i would heat it and twist tap it at the same time...but u will have to get a new bolt...they got so much stress that they bend a little and create small burrs which doesnt come out good....good luck
