416 question

i am curious as to what is done with a 416. is it just a piston/ring set? or does it require the cylinder to be bored/replaced? was looking at the 440 setup but i have seen too many people with headgasket and head lifting issues. lmk

Cylinder is bored/honed to 87mm, and a new piston/ring set is installed. The sleve does not need to be replaced if your just goin to a 416

yes, you just bore the stock sleeve out 2 millimeters (0.080"). the 400ex cylinder is not plated so you do not need to mess with that. then you will need a 416 piston (87millimeter). after that, you are good to go.
