I just got a '97 YZ250. I don't care about the bike and was thinking about putting the motor in my 400ex frame. Any advice? Would it be better to use a CR motor? I really wanted to do a CR500, but have read alot about how it would vibrate too much. I don't know a whole lot about counterbalancers. Any help or suggestions would be great, thanks.

The yz250 probably isn't going to be much better than your 400ex motor.

If you do the swop you should put your 400ex motor in the dirt bike.

I would get the cr500 motor. All hybrids viberate more than stock.

My 400ex when it was stock it vibertated so much i had to put my feat in the nerf bars when i would trail ride.
If the viberation is bad you could put little rubber cushins between the motor mounts and motor and could buy inserts for your handle bars and lock tight all bolts.

I seen alot of 400ex's/250rs/yfz450's with the cr500 motors and their so fast you probably wouldn't even notace the viberation.

The CR500 swap has been done to death and they all destroy the frames in short order. Stick with the YZ, unless you're drag racing.
