im new and i just have a quick question. I just bought a yfz450 at an auction and i dont know what year it is. I heard they only started makin the yfz in 04, is that true? thanx

Yes Yamaha started to make the YFZ in 2004

If you look on the engine and look on the head (exhaust side) tell me if you see a rubber plug on the head...

If you do see a rubber plug it's a '04 and if it doesnt it's and '05+;)

also if its still a stock shifter the 04 has a steel one and the 05 has an aluminum one:D

i checked and it has a plug so its a 2004. thanks guys. umm now i got another question... does the plug make any differnce other than looks? why did they stop puttin them there?:ermm:
