what would be the better modification?

a 416 kit or a stage 1 hotcam?

what kind of increases would i see with each individual one?

would a cam give me more power than just a 416 or is it the other way around?

also with a 416 kit, would i be blowing headgaskets left and right?

how would my chances be against a stock 04 450r? alos these mod WILL be with a slip-on HMF and a twin air airfilter

we just put a 11.0 comp piston standard bore and stg 2 hot camin his 05 400 and it is really amazing. my buddy had a 440 with stg 2 cam and he couldnt get there.

to see the best gains you really need to do both the piston and the cam. you will get some gain with either one, but you wilget a significant gain if you do both. it will take both to keep with the 450R.

i agree doing both is the best route, but if you can only do 1, you will see more from the cam than you will just a bigger bore

and i would go with the stg 2 cam before the stg 1

ok I'll prolly go with the stage 2 cam. Although I'm just wondering what is the diffrence between the stage 1 and 2?

What I have heard is that the stage 1 cam is for 400-426 and the stage 2 is for 426-440 and the stage 3 is for 440-up. I think the stag1 cam has more low end power while the others have more top end. This is just what I have heard though.

They make a Stroker cam and they made an "old version" of the Stage 2. Both those cams are sometimes called Stage 3. It's confusing and for that reason I prefer to not use "Stage 3" as a designation for any EX Hotcam. Stroker or "old version" Stage 2 is unambiguious.

first off if you get a full exhaust system that will make a big difference over just a slip on. and then id get the hot cam stage 2. also if you bore it also and get the cam an full exhaust system you SHOULD be able to keep up with a 450r imo.
