Ok, you all know I am new...so here is my dumb question:
What does the TRX and the EX mean in my TRX250EX??
I see all kinds of different letters and right now I have no idea what the different ones indicate. And while I am on it...why is it called a 250 when technically it has less than 250cc's ?
Sorry, but I did search the forum and couldn't find anything.
:ermm:

they are just both model id's. the trx is honda's designation for it's 4 wheelers. years ago, with honda, there was a 200x and a 250r, and the "m" models . the "r" designated it was for racing, x was for sporty, non racing machines and the "m" models usually had racks or were non sporty...or todays ute models. there at on time was a 250x atv then honda gave it an electric start and upped the cc's and called it a 300ex...the ex series was born

your machine is called a 250 because it is a mid range number and describes what class it fits in..the 250 class...

So the E in ex means electric start? and the X in ex means sport model? And the TRX is just means a 4 wheeler as opposed to an old 3 wheeler?

that is pretty much a way of looking at it...since the 450r electric actually is a trx450er...

Ok, now how do I know by the model number whether someone is talking about a bike that is 4stroke or 2 cycle? Or is that just something you gotta be in the know about already?

this is where it gets confusing...for honda's, until the 450r, the r was also a 2 stroke designation. honda has only had one 2 stroke...it was the 250r quad and trike...kawasaki had the tecate and tecate 4. yamaha has the blaster and banshee for quads...i don't remeber right off the top of my head what their 2 stroke three whelers were. 'zuki has the quadzilla(a 5oocc 2 stroke monster) and also a 250r

I hate to interupt this conversation, but whats the diff between the tectate and the tectate4?

the tecate was the 3 wheeler and the tecate 4 was the quad
