I am going to buy a new 05 to 07 400ex this march when Im 18. I like the red plastics but the black ones make the whole machine more bas @$$ looking, but do they look like crap after a while of hard riding in the woods when they re getting scratched because i know from my buddies 05 400, the red hides a lot of abuse and looks good for a long time but i dont know if the black will do the same. Is the black one worth getting?

I had black on my banshee. Little armor all and stuff and it looked good. I raced XC so it got abused. I felt it was worth it.

Here is a pic of it after 2 years of abuse. Hard to tell though

Thanks man. I never thought of using armor all on the plastics. I'm definently going with the black then and use armor all to protect them. Thanks again for the reply.

They do look pretty bad after a while, but put some wd-40 or armor all on it and it looks new again:devil: I think the red looks like orange after a while:ermm: heres a pic of mine after a season of xc racing:macho

They do get rough before any other color (white comes in a distant second).

....But that is the price u gotta pay to be a badass

Ya anything looks faster with black paint jobs. I also figured that sense my buddy that i ride with a lot in Mass has a red 400 ill just get the black one to change up the seen a bit. Hey Djj450r just wondering who makes those bead lock rims and if they come in a larger diameter.
