Bigger bore, deeper tone?

Hey, one of the kids in my school said since his blaster is bored it has a deeper tone, is this true? What would cause it if it is true.

I don't know about the bore, but the compression has something to do with it...I THINK...because after I put in my high comp. piston, it sounded louder.
