As its been getting colder here in NJ, its getting harder to start my quad. I pump the gas a few times and it starts right up, but won't keep idle for more than a little while. After I start it about 3 times and the choppy idle goes away, it will idle fien forever. But, when I turn the choke on, it runs like poop. Is it a common problem with the 400ex? Mine is an 04 by the way.

i would try to put a 42 pilot jet in the bike. that should help it out. the 400ex's are cold blooded by nature so you may have to stay on the gas a little bit when it is cold on initial start up. with the choke on full it will run like crap. it isn't letting air into the engine so you don't want the choke really unless you are trying to start the bike.

I'm kinda dumb when it comes to jetting...but I'm getting to know terms, I'm under the assumption a 42 pilot would make it run a rad richer for the cold months?

this si always happenin to my friends quads but not a big problem for mien and its a 01 and theres r 04 and 06 wat i do for there is keep ur ignition switch off and put the bike in second and pop start it (it wont start since the ignition is off) but do that two or three times to build up fuel pressure and then it should make it a lil easier

I never rode the Chatsworth track, but I've rode the trails out there. My friend has another friend and we park at his house and they have sick fast trails, they're so fast and fun. They have it all, wide turns, tight turns, jumps, whoops, straight-a-ways, crazy good. And than it's right by a lake too, couldn't ask for it to be any better.
