stock 05' 400ex's headpipe glowing red?!

Well i was riding at night last saturday at like 9PM and my cousin noticed my heapipe glowing a dim colored red. Now my question is, if my quad is running lean would it make it take a while to warm up and idle on its own?, isn't that when its rich? Also this was after like 5-10 minutes of riding cruising in and a little bit of 3rd, and mostly 4th and 5th gear, and just jumping a little. It doesn't pop and sputter like its lean, otherwise its just really quiet lol. I've never touched the jetting its completely stock. if its running lean could this be the reason why my 400 feels a little bit like a slouch?

If your quad was lean, it would heat up quickly but idle like crap, did the tempature change recently? That might richen your jetting.

yes the average temp now its like 50's - to lower 60's, and in the early parts of the morning its at the freezing point now.

That's normal for them to glow. Just don't touch it and you'll be fine.

that is normal. it could still glow if your jetting was a bit rich, but it would glow more if you are leaner. so it is hard telling where you are at on your jetting but don't worry about the head pipe too much.

Yeah mine does it all the time too,... i usually use my headpipe to light cigarettes or j-bombs if i dont have a lighter on me.
