i had a 97, all i really have to say is.... be ready for problems... lots and lots of problems. there was always something wrong with mine, and i barely drove the thing. DSMs are know to be unreliable. but i must say every time i see a 2nd gen eclipse i will admit they are some good looking cars, but for the most part not good running. except for the turbo cars (when they are accually running) you deffinatly need to get a turbo in it and put a 5 spd in it. there is a company that sells a complete turbo kit for the NAs. the NA cant handle much boost so the turbos dont put out alot like you could in a honda. a couple suggestions for you coming from me, who went through the modding process and the dealing with the mods, dont do a body kit, if you must spend the money and get a polyurithane kit, i had a cheap fiber glass set up... looked sweet for about a week and then it was in peices all over the street because of a man hole cover. dont lower it, or at least dont lower it much, mine was almost exactly 1 inch off the ground at the front bumper.... yea it was low. i see in the pics you have some rust fix that asap because a mitsu will rot to hell in no time. my last suggestion if your going to go with rims, dont get any rims with a tire any less than a 45 side wall, anything less will pound your balls

this is an 96' though. Do the 96's have problems? And specify what kind of problems, and what do you mean by "not good running"?

it really doesnt matter what year, mitsus are just known for being unreliable. you might be running fine now but chances are your going to have problems expecially with over 140k. i dont know why but mitsus in general are poorly built. somethings you might want to consider is getting the timing belt and water pump replaced, i talked to a mitsu tech and he said thats the best thing you can do for them, they need it replaced every 60K. i dont mean to get you down about your car. more power to ya to mod it out ect. but im just passing my info on to you. this info is coming from mistu owners (not just me) and techs. if the car was taken care of and had its maintanace then you will be better off than one that was run through the beater. the best thing you can do is go through the WHOLE car and fix EVERTHING that isnt working right, check and replace stuff and stay on top of everything and you should be fine, but like i said before get on that rust ASAP, one other tip to try to get you not to buy a body kit ( i dont know if you were planing on it ) do a 2GB swap, its taking the bumpers and skirts off a 97+ and putting them on your version 95-96 are 2GA and 97-99 and 2GB. the 2GB just has a more aggressive look to it IMO. if you have any questions about the car let me know, i have been through the worst with mine, that why i drive a honda now lol but im always happy to help another car guy

DSM's have a bad name because of every kid that buys one and beats the shat out of it without mantainince. we have 3 of 'em, all talons but same thing other than the badge 91 TSi fwd, 93 Tsi awdand a 95 TSi awd. the 91 has 165,000miles and the 93 has 141,000 and the 95 118,000miles. i'm rebuilding the 93 right now because it was bagged on but the 91 we have owned since new and have never done anything other than regular oil changes, clutch breaks etc. guy in my town builds DSm's and his daily driver is a 92 TSi pushing over 450hp. check out RMT mods (www.rmtmods.ca)

nice car and for $150 you can go wrong, you'd make not bad $$ if you parted the thing out even.
