i just went out to start my dads 400 and there was this grinding noise coming from the solenoid and the engine wont turn over. it sounds like the starter isnt moving either. the battery is fully charged too. i dont dont know whats up with it. is the solenoid blown or what?

Batterys faulty, uncharged, loose battery/solenoid/start connection, or a dirty connection is generally the cause. Test the battery with a multimeter Just to be sure.

Check the ground cable thart mounts to the frame, may look good but they break in side the black covering..

That grinding noise sounds to me like the solenoid is clicking on and off. either low voltage, high resistance, or a bad solenoid.
that is going off from electrical theory, not 400ex specific
