Snowmobiling

Hey, idk alot about snomobiles, but what would be one of the best snomobiles on the market today? Like, for example, as dominate at the 450s?

Mostly sped and acceleration? I was told a polaris 900 or something like that, or a firecat buy people in school.


I want to start snowmobiling, and help would be appreciated.

Ski-doo is the honda of snomobiles.

If your just getting into sleds I would go with a 600 or so, A 600 will go a 100 easy. IMO, thats all a guy needs. Go with a rev chassis, they are the newer chassis.

i agree. i would get the rev 600. i have rode a 900 and a 1200:eek2: and they r way to hevy in the front and handle like crap.

I dont think skidoo is, its all what you like in the sled indistry, i personaly like polars, skidoos are very nice also, not a fan of the rev tho, there 550s are quick machines.

in my opinion, the "sport quads" of sleds would be the arctic cat firecat, ski doo rev, and the polaris fusion models. each one of these sleds has its positives and negatives, but for the most part they each have great chassis and Fast motors. i personally like the 600 sleds being the-f6, rev 500ss/600ho, and fusion 600ho. for riding trails and doing east coast style riding the 600s seem to be plenty motor. you can get up to and past 100mph easily on any one of those sleds. if you wanted to get into big jumps, freestyle, and snocross racing, the 440 sleds are for you. they require more maintaince, mixing of oil and gas, race fuel, etc, but have the suspension and light weight for that type of riding.

I have an artic cat 440 setup for snocross and the thing rips.Fastest snowmobile i have ever had, however it does require alot of maintaince but if you like hitting big jumps then it is for you.
Also it is really light so you can throw it around easily

If you're looking for a fast sled , the Ski-Doo Mach Z 1000 .

If you're looking for great speed , awesome handling and all around comfortable ride , I'd go with a Ski-Doo MXZ 600 SDI . You can't beat the reliability of Ski-Doo snowmobiles .

If I were to be spending the money , it would be a no-brainer , don't even think twice , type decision .... Ski-Doo would be sitting in the garage and it would be a 600 CC sled . Anything more and you're looking at higher maintenance .

If I were to be on a trail sled I would pick the Cat f8 or f1000 sno pro. Both of those things are lightning quick. Since I live in the north west where big mountains and long tracks are the norm I own a cat M7 153" long track. It's light and easy to move around I wouldn't want to own another sled unless it was a bigger motor M-series cat.

I completely agree! I've always been a big fan of ski-doo. They are dependable, easy to maintain & imo their models look better than most. We own 3 Polaris' and I'm out ALOT. There hasn't been a winter yet where I haven't cursed them out and felt like just leaving them on the side of the trail.

a guy in my town has a ski doo 1000. alls I can say is shut up and hold on if you buy one of them. He had the motor done up by the crank shop this summer. so It should be interesting to see how it goes this winter. Last year he turned 140 MPH!. and it was somewhat stock.



I would stay away from a 500cc, I had one of them. Seemed like it was just a tad low on power. Like a 400ex in the quad world.

i love my doo I have a 03 600ho awsome sled for any type of riding this sled feels like a quad if you ask me i love the seating position, I did alot of changes to it this summer and still workin on it so far new black pannels, pistons and rings, have a clutch kit that still needs to be put in and was going to do a beaver tail delete what they call for the 03 models but next summer i plan on doing a 136" track conversion and studding, and new skis

i like the arctic cat m6 141. hot styling light weight and quick sappy motor.. the only thing is that i don't like suzuki and they make the motors for the arctic cat.

actually my 500 has great power, one of my buddies has a Doo 440 with a pipe,has mild motor work done and a ripsaw track i beat him by 3 sled lengths and mine is completely stock.

i was so close to buying a 02 mxz700 with mods for this winter, but i decided it just wouldnt be worth it for the amount of snow we get. i still love them though, and i know that every time i see one pass me this winter im going to wish i got one.

the M series cats are made for mountains and are a bad choice for east coast flatland style riding.
