A 460ex is a 400ex that has been bored to a 440 and then stroked. You needing to get new plastics has nothing to do with the displacement of your motor.

I have 2 400ex engines and the top end on one(the one on my bike) isnt very good and the bottom end(the gears and stuff) of the other one(that isnt on my bike) doesnt work so im putting the good top end on my good bottom end(on my bike)

and well im going to get the not so good top end bored out and im getting a new piston and then im fixing the bottom end and so ill have 2 motors...

One on my bike and one that is bored out not on my bike.

SO what should i bore it out to so i dont have to replace any other parts and so nothing will wear down with a bigger piston

also what do you mean by a 440 stroked?

You have to use the special piston that comes with the stroker crank also. Then you have the 460EX. It's like magic. :D

damn i bet you have to get a bunch of new parts just so it can hold up to the power. how much would all those parts and the 440 stroker kit cost?

Not as much as you think, probably a little under $1000. Stroker Crank and Piston is about $550. Oversized head studs $60, Cometic gaskets $110, Oversized Kibblewhite valves $120, maybe you could even sneak a Port and Polish for about $300 and call it a day! :D
