I'm going to go to a couple of hillclimbs coming up and i'm wondering what type of tires and rims would be the best.
Would it be better to go smaller than stock so it will be setting closer to the ground and it won't raise up as easy or what?
And if so what kind of tires should i get? Any suggestions?

I read an article on hillclimbing, they had a couple experts making suggestions and they said to run stock honda radials. They bite good on any serface and the flex of the 9in wheel\tire combo will give you a little smoother ride up the hill. Just don't loop out like that shee on H3, ouch!

I ran a hillclimb a few weeks back. I think I was the only quad there on beadlocks and 18'' mx tires. They didnt seem to give me any advantage on the hill. I placed about 6 or 7 fastest time.

Just like what everyone else said, run stock 400 tires but get some race rims to slap on there...I went to an amature ama hill climb and all the bikes there were sitting on stock 400 tires and groved front radials... I saw 1 with ungroved tamers, and well, to say the least, he was spinning so bad, he only mad it half way up...

It was the one at delbarton and I didnt run it, I was just a spectator... I think all the groved radilas were 19's and the rears were 20's, actually I know they were cuz I was looking at some of the lt 500 r's and they had the 19 fronts and 20 inch rears... They could of just had it set-up this way because they did not have other front tires, but some of these guys looked very professional and they still ran the 19 20 set-up...
