How do you know what size pilot jet you have? I know I have a 165 Main. Also when adjusting TURNS do you count 360 degree revolution or from one point of the screw driver to another?

Depending on the carb you have, usually the pilot is right next to the main looking into the bottom of the carb. Remove it and there is a number stamped. That's what size pilot you have.

And one turn is a 360 degree revolution.

I believe the Carb is stock but I am the 3rd owner. I have 2 jets. One is on the bottom front and the other is on the left side of the carb near the back.

26 is what people call the pilot jet. 24 in this pic is the actual pilot jet (what people call the fuel screw). take your carb open and see what you have.

(IN FIGURE#3) I thought the Pilot Jet was the Screw that is all the way at the top.

The arrow in figure 3 is pointing to what is commonly called the pilot jet. The screw at the top is commonly called the fuel screw or pilot screw.

They are both part of the pilot circuit. The fuel screw is basically a fine tuning adjustment for the pilot jet.

This should help: http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&postid=2251252#post2251252

You have a 48 pilot in a stock 400ex carb

The reason I started this thread is because I am the 3rd owner and I know the carb has been jetted but not sure about the pilot. I live in Phoenix, AZ about 2000 feet above sea level. I have White bros E Series exaust, 165 main jet, K&N filter with Outerwears Prefilter and the Airbox has no lid but has Outerwears Cover (Prefilter material). Just because the carb is stock does not mean a 38 pilot is still in there.

and make sure you do not have dynojets in there either because their numbering pattern is different.

Are DynoJets labled with something other than a number? If I do have Dynojets, is that a bad thing because you said make sure you you do not have them.:huh
