View Full Version : Anyone know what an External Fixator is?

Well I sure know what it is! I just got my bandages off my hand today and got to see one. It is to hold my broken bones all together. For all you that don't know what it is here is a photo.

it hurts like hell!, i had one about 5 times that big in my left femur last october, and it had 2 bars with 8 stainless steel pins that were screwed into the bone at various places....they arent fun, and mine didnt work, so they had to take it out and put a rod in my leg, which comes out in mid-december!:D

Mine has not hurt at all. But then again it is not as big as you leg one. I think it will hurt i I do bang it up against something, but I keep it wraped to help it. Only 4 more weeks to see if it can be removed.

been there it sucks. I had one on my ankle starting at my foot going up my shin :mad:
