Motor "Spooling"

What does this mean? I have read it several times as of late and haven't the slightest clue what it means. The only thing I could think of is the acceleration in relation to flywheel......I don' t know!

i have only ever heard of a turbo spooling. it means it is getting up to speed using the exhaust gasses to spin the turbo and compress the intake air before entering the motor. that is the only spooling i have ever heard of.

I thought it just referred to how fast an engine builds RPM's.
