View Full Version : Buying quad which is best for the money?

I am brand new to atv's. I own a Yamaha R6 right now, and getting rid of it to get a atv. I am not looking to spend a crazy amount. looking to spend probably $2500. I was looking at like a 2002 400ex and they look pretty good, but is there anything else out there that might be faster or better for that price? thanks for any help you guys can give me.

You could maybe find a Z400, which would add a little power and reverse, but the 400ex is an excellent recreational quad, good for XC also, not so good for mx.

id say the 400ex because its virtually indestructable has decent power and is a great quad for most neone.

id stay far away from the z400 before 05 i think... there frames suck in every year and i know they had a corrosion issue with the coolant i beleive.

plus there are tons of 400ex aftermarket parts out there for dirt cheap.

definitely the 400ex, or the 300 if you wanna spend even less and are small enough to enjoy it.

you are mistaken. the 03s had frame problems, 04s - present are fine. the 03s and 04s did not have a corrosion problem, the 05s and 06s did! but a recall was issued so its not a big deal now.

but id say go for the 400ex, for the money you pay its a good price for the performance you get.
