yfz 450 04 model

My buddy has an 04 yfz 450 thats fully skidded and has about 10 hrs on it.He is asking 3800 for it and I just wanted to know if there are any probs with this year yfz compared to the newer models.It also has a slip on and jetting with air box mods and razrs.feedback appreciated.Or should I buy a Honda 450r.Let me know.I got 4 gs to work with and dont wanna kicker.

Make sure that it has a decompression plug put in, the stock plastic one will come out sooner or later. Also, there were some transmission problems in some of them but it seems they were all taken care of. Other than that, just keep up with the maintanence and you'll be fine. $3800 for a low-hour YFZ sounds like a great deal to me, I say go for it.
