the first couple and the last one are on a nice easy table top, about a 35-40 footer i would guess. it's a fairly easy jump, but it's good to work on because it throws you fairly high. i'm able to work on moving the quad around and working on the control since it's not too scary.

the other one's a different story. it's about a 65-70 footer to the lip and another 20-25 feet to the bottom. i have to be pretty high in 4th gear to get to the downside. it's scary because the lip is high and you can't see the other side. took a lot of nerve for me to hit it full blast the first time, but it's not too bad now.

that's all the pics i've got, but my buddy shot some really good videos out there, i just don't have them on the computer yet. one thing i learned watching the videos is they don't do justice to how high you really feel on some jumps. to an old guy like me, it seems like i'm almost twice as high as what it actually is.

well, you see, i did some pretty sweet arse tricks, but the camera didn't work when i was doing them, for some odd reason. i just don't get it, everytime i pull off the biggest tricks, the camera never works...

:devil ;)

Cool, you doing that big step-up now? I guess thats the tunnel jump yall are talkin about? I can't remember if there's another jump there w/ a tunnel. It's pretty easy... the looks are just intimidating (sp?). If I can order the axle and send my shocks off this month, I'll go to Caddo again sometime and ride with yall. I'm not racing until I get the a-arms, though.

Those first couple of pics are of the table after the little table that we always over jump right? I like that jump... easy, smooth, and somewhat decent air. It feels like your higher than you actually are cause you just kind of float through the air for a long time. :D

Razorback

no, i'm not jumping the tunnel right now. i've done it about 7 or 8 times, but the landing is not smooth enough for me right now. i almost went over the bars the last time i did it because i bounced on the top. the bigger jump i was talking about was the one on the corner near the track entrance a little after the whoops. i can get all the way to the bottom, i just don't like it because you can't see the end of the jump when you take off.

yeah, you're right on the other one, you just seem to float. i like it a lot. i hope you get back up and running soon. that'll be sweet when you get the axle and a-arms. a re-map and a few little things and you'll be set!

Yeah, I know which jump you were talkin about. I don't like it because it's to narrow. Those blind jumps don't bother me so much anymore since I started jumping that #2 double at badlands (the one thats right next to the finish line).

It'll definitely be sweet when I get it done.

So far my plans are Houser +3 a-arms, lonestar +4 axle, Rebuilt rear shock, rebuilt front Ohlins w/ dual rate and piggy back rezzies, Houser steering stem, Silver plastics, carbon fiber headlight delete covers, HMF exhaust, and moto 440 remapping (unless they come out with some other map w/ more power :D). What do you think? Any changes I should make to that, that doesn't cost anymore $?

If I had the money, my list would be so big, i would need 2 different posts to list all the stuff I would get ;) :D.

from#2 to the whoops is the sweeties for air at badlands

ya gotta have brass balls to jump that #2 at badlands!

i can't think of much else except some carbon fiber rims :D

i can't wait until you get all that stuff done. you have to let me touch it :devil

Man, I love almost every jump at Badlands! That new jump they have before the tunnel jump (the one that looks like a table step-down) is probably the one that you can get the most air off of now. That thing is a MONSTER. The whoops are pretty hard. I try to fan the clutch a little through there because I don't want to hit them to fast, but sometimes I pull the clutch in at the wrong time. I stuck it one time and the quad was balanced on the front bumper w/ me still sitting on the seat and my hands on the ground. It looked like I was doing a hand stand w/ my quad right in the middle of the whoops :o . Luckily some guy ran out there and held the quad up while I pulled myself off and then pushed the quad back down... I bet it looked pretty funny.

Scott - Did I let you ride the C-dale at Caddo? I can't remember if I did or not, but when I get it done, I'll definitely let you take it for a spin on the track. I garuntee you that you'll love it. Even Derek was able to admit that the Dale was quick.

who cares the technical term you just gave branded it's new name, and it's just that a MONSTER

no, i didn't ride it. i usually don't like to ask because some people don't want others to be on their ride. i'd love to take it for a spin though, especially after all the work. i'm curious how the new moto mapping will change it.

250X - LOL, I don't think that's what he had in mind.

Sick0 - The length of the jump isn't very long, but the track is sort of a "supercross" style track where the jumps are short but throw you pretty high. I haven't been to teh track in a month so my estimations would be way off, so i'm not even going to try to guess... maybe someone else here could answer that question for you.

The shock is going to be sent off probably this week, and depending on my paycheck, the axle will be ordered shortly?

Unfortunately, I didn't get to work hardly any last week, and it's slowed down a lot, so unless I can find a sponsor, I'll probably just hold off with the a-arms for a while and maybe I'll be back to racing pretty soon! Either way, I think it will work out nicely... Either I find a sponsor, and buy some a-arms and front shocks for cheap (which would leave me out of racing for a while longer), or I'll just rebuild the rear shock, buy an axle, and start racing again (and I'll save up for the a-arms in December and January when the racing has pretty muchly stopped). Not racing is absolutely driving me CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel you pain being stuck in cali. is killing me, not getting to race also, but over the weekend we went to pismo beach and rented some z's and rode the dunes.

I think they mix concrete with that Caddo dirt. I would say something about Badlands, but if you guys only knew how much money Russ has spent on dirt... It's far into the 6 digits for last year(SAND alone).

Buzzsaw
09-15-2002, 11:46 PM

It's been a while since I've made it to Caddo, but the last time I was there it needed work BAD.

I just thought I'd take this opportunity to show off a lil bit for MxDale71... Letting his Dale sit next to this guys K&K 250R is a real blessing for him :)

MxDale71
09-16-2002, 10:54 AM
Haha, that's when the Dale still looked good. It wouldn't be so bad now if I had headlights and a wider rear end. Oh well... I guess that means I'll just have to buy some carbon fiber headlight delete covers and a +4 Lonestar axcalibur axle.

DARN ;)

Seriously though... your R does look sweet. Sure wish you were keepin it :D.
