i have an 02 400ex. it has a full whitebrother exhaust, 416 piston kit, jetted and i am not sure what stage cam. i was riding and lost all power. no start or anything. i took the head off to find out the splines on the cam were al eaten up. so just for now i got a stock cam to put in it. wed put the cam in, lined everthing up and still no start. just a back fire here and there. any clue what to do? is the timing still off? do i need a bigger cam? the flywheel is supposed to be lined up with the t mark correct? any info is appreciated. also, what do my valves need to be set at?

the splines on the old cam where eaten up??? sounds bad..
But anyways, did you re-install the decompresion plunger and spring. you need them with the stock cam for it to run. common mistake.

It's a small metal dowl and a smilarly sized spring that sit in a hole in the head (under the cam). They're needed for the auto-decomp mechanism to work on the stock cam.

would i just be better off getting a stage 2 cam that does not have the auto decomp mechanism on it?
