Yea this spring I think I'm going to get rid of her. She was a good truck but I want something different. I'm thinking of a camaro or firebird. I want the LT1 engine and a 98 and above body style. What do you guys think?

Im pretty sure the LS1 replaced the LT1 in 98. Definitely go with the LS1 if possible. They make some nice power with just a few bolt ons.

'93-'97 used the LT1

'98-2002 used the LS1. The SS Camaros and Ram Air T/As make a little more power, but not much. I think they do look better however.

Definitely go with the LS1. They make a lot more power plus any LT1 car will be at least 9 years old and prolly well worn.

I would check on insurance also, a 19year old with a z28 or t/a might be expensive

My friends both had a LT1, it was a 96 Chevy Camar Z28, and my other friend had an LS1, 2001 Chevy Camaro Z28. The LT1 is way more torquey than the LS1, but top end the LS1 showed its pony's. You can't beat the low end performance of the LT1, especially all that low end TORQUE! If you can find a nice LT1 with low miles, I would deff. put it in a 1998-2002 Chevy Camaro body. LS1's are nice, but not what I would want. I just love the LT1 sound and low end performance! Now go smoke them rice-burners!:D

Ya but with headers and exhaust, a new throttle body, and a ram air kit the LS1 will be just as torquey and still have the top end

I was planning to put a new exhaust on it anyways. I'm probably going to get a 98 or newer because of mileage and age.

You can take the LT1 over the LS1 all you want, and I will walk all over you! I have had the LT1 in a 96 Ram Air, the LS1 in a 99 Ram Air, and the LS2 in a 05 GTO. No comparision betwee the engines. I now have a 91 TA I am setting up for Street/Strip and will be putting the LS2 in it. Don't get me wrong, the LT1 is a nice engine, but it does not compair to the newer Gm engines.

Skip the ls1 and the lt1 and get the 03 cobra :D

The LS1 is WORLDS better than the LT1 though, and it really is a VERY impressive engine. My brother owned an 00 WS6 VERT (6speed)(heavier by 1-200#'s) and took the thing to atco, bonestock ran a 12.9. My mom's old 99Z28 vert (auto) ran a 13.2@106.

There is literally no comparison between the LT1 and the LS1. The LS1 is better in EVERY aspect. The money you will dump in to the LT1, is better spent on the initial purchase of the LS1. It IS that far ahead. So aside from my first comment (which I stick to), the LS1 is an awesome engine and you can't go wrong with it.

Lol, did someone actually just say LT1's compare to LS1's?

Im not being an a-hole either, im pretty sure i have my sources... www.clevelandpickapart.com
Thats where i work, biggest camaro, t/a, vette, charger, gto, and caddy yard on the east side of the US. Id say ive had a few to compare..

But yea LT1s i think are great engines, im trying to buy an LT1 6speed 95 camaro right now, and once i sell my YFZ im going to buy my bosses 00 T/A WS6 convertible LS1 6speed. I love both cars, im a all out hardcore fan and drive nothing but them (and my winter escort)
