Next year im going to start racing, i have a 86 250r, and a 400ex, i might sell the 400ex and round up enough money to get a new quad or work up the 250r. How will the 250r hold up against these new 450s, if its not worth working it up, what 450 should i get Honda, Suzuki, or Yamaha. I really like the new suzuki 450 but the yfz450 is nice too.. im not sure what would some of you suggest, Thanks

i would sell the ex and hook up your R. why sell the ex and try and come up with enough money to get a stock 450 to race when you can be racing a hooked up R? I did fine all season on my R. took home a few first places.

My suggestion is to sell both and buy a race ready 250R, it'd probably be cheaper that working yours depending on what you have done to it especially motor work.

Then if you like racing and feel committed to it (physically and financially) buy a 450 and the only reason I say that is cause even though you can be competitive on the 250, it limits your classes.

If you are not 100% sure about going with the 250, then dont..... You are a 250 person or not..... If you decide to sell both the quads and get a 450, get the honda....

i'd suggest just getting out and race with what you got maybe do a little bit of mods, just in case you find out that you don't like racing. So many of my friends turned out that way:(

I would say sell the 400, and work the 250r. 250r's are still very competative, and if your a good enough rider will keep up with, and in many cases walk all over the new 450's. Keep in mind 2 strokes are naturaly harder to ride, and if you aren't a real 2 stroke fan then look for a 450. If you with a new one then atleast stick with honda.

work up the 250R!!! dont go the 400 route and the 450s are way too much money....250r is the best route...plus it wont go down muc in value compared to a brand new quad...
