I'm told the space between the swingarm bearings is different than the bikes. You have to do something custom to make either of the bike engines fit the ATV.

The WR engine will have wide ratio gearing compared to the ATV. 1st gear will be the same and 5th will be very tall.

The 4-speed YZ engine has the same gears as the YFZ, but without 1st. I believe the YZ engine got a taller primary reduction gearing at some point and the cases got larger in 2006 when they included an oil reservior in the engine.

The motor is a great motor. why would you want to ditch it in a newer machine?? If you wanna do a hibryd project go with something older or find one with a blown motor, it's more economical. and u will still have something to ride while yer piecing your bike together

ok me and my freind built a hybrid 400ex frame and we got a 440 yfz dirt bike motor, from travis spaders wrench turner or so he said he was, putting it together was easy we had a guy that just built frames like that, we had it together in one day it did not run till a mounth later or get it running well a nuff to race for a least a month, but if that is what you want to do then how mutch is your motor.

2 lower motor mounts might not line up so cut them and make new mounts. Head stay mount needs to be made if ou want that mount but not needed. Front motor mounts probably need to be made. Kick start extention needs to be made. Frame rail by carb may need to be bridged. Thats it.

i had a welder guy do that for me and all that only costed me $270 and only took 7 hours to do.

heres a 05 i did with a 04 yz motor, i had a custom swingarm made with the pivot mount moved 3/4" to the chain side and fabbed new front mounts. redrilled the upper mount over and cut and moved the bottom mount. and lost a ton of weight and gained the nice yz spec ignition. i did have to use a kickstarter extention. but once all done it felt alot stronger than a yfz motor and much simpler harness to.

i talk with my buddy today
***he said he used the 4 wheeler mounts.
*** bushings where the swinger bolt goes through the back of the engine, he took them out.
***he put a washer behind the front sprocket.

all equals up to 1 fast death trape.
