I know how to make it faster w/o spending any money.

Get a Honda and a rope then tow that lakota. Pretty soon your going faster than any Lakota on the planet.:D

Pretty much anything that works on other four stroke sport quads will work on the Lakota. Help it breathe easier with a K&N filter, aftermarket pipe, and rejet. Four Stroke Tech makes a big bore kit. Better tires would help. You can change the gearing with the sprockets. I always thought the Lakota felt narrow, so maybe some wheel spacers. Anything you can do to make it lighter will help (like ditching the racks if it has them.)

Loose the racks and anything else you don't need, add an exhaust and filter (UNI or K&N), change the front sprocket to a 13 tooth and install a jet kit. These simple mods will definately add some pep to the Lakota.

I have to admit that is a sweet looking Lakota. All the good advice you got from other people will work. I would also look at a high compression piston. go with a 12:5:1 if you can find it. I would really look at getting different shocks if you want to race it. I will also tell you that if you are so unhappy with it that you want to radically change it, then mayby it is not the quad for you. Mayby you should look at a 400EX, Cannibal, or even a Banshee.....peace and good luck dude......
