Just wondering what everyone thinks about the hare scramble courses. Do you like them pretty much wide open with lots of fields or would you rather have them tighter and more technical. I'm just wondering since I've heard a few of the pros complaining they like them wide open, they'd rather be doing 45 mph than 15 with a line of other fast racers on their rear waiting for them to make a mistake and take over the lead from them. Do you like a lot of mx sections mixed in or do you want a timber filled event. Racers and spectators alike sound off!!

i wouldnt like wide open like going thru fiel;ds, but not really tight track either. the west virginia gncc last year was my favorite track of all time. pretty fast, but still had plenty of trees, and it had a good mx track

I like the tight and technical tracks, with trees not everybody can fit between. Any body can hold it wide open, it takes skill to maneuver throught tight trees.

I like tight, but still fairly fast. Like the majority of the time in 3rd gear but lots of twists and turns. Also like long steep hillclimbs and a little mx is nice sometimes.

I think that to make a track good, it needs to have a little bit of everything. There should be tight, technical sections mixed in with wide open sections. A few MX jumps and turns are nice to have, but if you throw in a whole MX track, I think that it takes away from the main reason that people are racing a harescramble, becasuse its a HARESCRAMBLE, not MX. I also think that there should be atleast one good hill climb, and atleast one good downhill section.

Thats the way I see it. I also like obstacles,to me they really challenge your skill just like a big ole' log right after a real tight right hander with two trees that you have to scrape your tires through! Ha ha.... Wide open sections are nice on them hot days when the sweat is pouring off ya.

Your head looks a size or two bigger as well. After all you had the fastest lap of the day and the over all.

The only reason you have been silent is because your Honda has been broken down and your scaired to race me.

So how is my fan club doing? You going to let them come race next year?

My perfect track.

50% track 1.5 quad links wide in the woods. Rough track, lots of logs and off chamber turns. (still wide enough you can find your self around a broke down quad)
10 % technical
10 % Wide Open fields
10% MX
20% Creeks and mud crossings.

tight and technical with a few wide open feild sections.

the biggest key to races is not using the same trail over and over and over.

once you use a trail for 3-4 races a year...(smaller series)...not only does it get boring but it gets so packed down it isn't fun anymore. i know it takes alot of time to open new trails but if you can keep your riders happy it is worth it. even if you just open 25% new track.

powerline this week was like an ice skating rink. i hated the trails themselves even tho having something that open and fast was a new experience.

GNCC racing has vered away from the "original Blackwater" type of track. XC racing should be XC racing -a couple of jumps thrown in for the crowds would be ok. Leave MX to GNC and go back to Hard rock style hill climbs, mud, and technical tracks to show true riding skills and not how fast your Nascar pit crew is!
The slower technical tracks don't need big $ high HP engines and top of the line suspension work to get the job done! Fans can go back to being true fans that enjoy going out to that favorite hill climb to cheer on and help instead of sitting on top of their 100,000 haulers!

i like em rough and fast, 70% woods, 30% fields. i like the tracks that have wooded fire roads and rough high speed fields. slow technical tracks wear me out. and every xc course should be at least 8 miles long.

i like the courses to be tight, have deep creeks with water and i love a hillclimb where there is always 10-15 bikes waiting to go up(i use this as a passing point!) some short field runs are ok but the 400 just doesnt have the guts to catch/hang with the big boys so i usually get passed there:(

Tight , technical and well marked , not just a throw together course to hold a race; one that has some thought to it and fun interesting obsticles.
The tighter the better, anyone can hold the throttle open but what makes the diffrence is who holds it open the longest in the tight woods or technical stuff.
It will be interesting to see the next generation GNCC'er's for alot has changed and they are all getting spooky fast in the woods.
Miss ya Johnny and Monica.

HHAAAA!!:huh Whats wide open? hav u ever raced an Arkansas harescramble. We redefine the term ''woodsracing''. Just joking, AHSCS puts on some good races, they are pretty tight and technical tracks, that just breeds some toughass racers imo. :macho
vote - Who has raced an Arkansas hare scramble. Git some of yur them there thawts on a real hairskramble.--lol jk:)
