Too much going on. We just moved. I'll be at the race for sure, and I maybe at Sikema's. Sikema's is about 2 miles from our new house. I could just drive my quad there.

bansheexcracer2

The site said 2 loops that are 50 each but I dont know if that is for us or the bikes. I love the longer races and tracks.

walleyefarm1
10-22-2006, 06:24 PM
the 50 mile loop is for sunday, seen some of the couse as it goes 1/4 mile from my house. way to narrow for the quads. hope the saturday track is longer than the one in june. oh cna't wait gonna check it out more this week.

My quad is in no shape to race especially 'The Race', the back shock is blown, its leaking oil like crazy and has a cracked air box

I'll send you a text at some point after I see how this weekend goes. I'd be in for some Iowa races next year, but you never know what next year will hold

A guy I race with out there said he talked to gusse and we are runnin a 50 mile course. This willl seperate the men (and woman) from the boys.

parkers30
10-23-2006, 08:00 PM
50 mile course? or race? I think we ran 4 laps on a 12 mile course last year? and my racing buddy who has been racing Gusse's stuff since '86 said thats normal

Yeah, I don't think Bill will run us on the 50 mile course. He never sets up anything difficult for us.

All I have to say is that I have a very nice surprise for everyone this weekend........two words I will say after the race "what whoops?"

See everyone on Saturday.

parkers30
10-24-2006, 05:40 PM
!! Approximately 50-mile course !!
This is where it all started, this 2-loop course will consist of tight woods, open grass track, wide open fields (no chicanes here), pasture track, and there may be a few logs.

well its straight off the website, but I seriously doubt the quads are going to run anywhere near that we normally have miles shorter courses anyway

400exmom
10-24-2006, 05:46 PM
does anyone know if there is the club membership fee or somthing of the sort?
last year i raced there you could buy a 1 time pass

Bansheexcracer. was that you i was playing bumper tag with on the mortocross track the first time. Screwwed up my kneee think i just twisted it, i kept at it though and took third in C class. i am not that fast in the timber but i just played it safe in the mud holes and come out ahaed. Thank god i never got stuck my knee couldn't have handled getting it out. you wmicht have even waved in the pits just before.

Yeah that was me, I didnt have any googles after the first turn so I had to put my helmet down and couldnt see where I was goin. There was a guy goin threw the whoops slower and a coulndt slow down so I ended up with my bike on top of his. I was in 1st in c-class, passed most of B and 30+, then was tryin to run with a pro and broke a tierod end. I am sure you all herd about adam reed (one of my friends), he was on the motocross track gettin ready to pass rob when he looked back over a jump because he thought he had a flat. He landed wrong and hit his sternum on the bar clamp and stem, without a chest protector. He is in iowa city now with a broken coller bone, internal bleeding, and they think he broke his sternum and it is pushing against his heart. Should know more tonight, I will keep you posted.

That race was muddy, I was second off the line and held my position until the last creek where you had to go under the bridge I went too far to the right and sucked water into my intake causing my motor to lock up:scary:

Kev
10-29-2006, 05:33 PM
Bummer Ryan....I noticed you were gone before the race was over.... I ended up stuck in the mud on the 3rd lap, and have to thank gus for helping me get the front end un stuck.... I ended up having to jump off at that crossing to lift my quad back on the cement portion but was lucky not to suck in any water considering it was under water...My boots however were filled with water...

Only thing about that course was it was wide open 5th gear on a lot of that course...The creek crossing were not bad.

That was one long course...48 minute laps for me....

Yeah, he was running a good race (I was wondering who he was). I was able to get around him in the last long tight woods section & put some time on him. I came around & got the white flag & pitted for goggles & gloves. When I was going through the mx I seen him coming through the mx. I seen him land a jump then I seen him curl up grabbing his chest. I was hoping he was alright. Tell him to rest/heal up & that he was running a good race.

Banshee, keep us posted on Adam Reed - hopefully he's going well.

Kev, no problem on helping you out, you did help me out also.

RobZ - good job again. That was a pretty cool set up you had.

I smoked a few trees and broke my steering stabilizer so I was only able to turn one direction, after getting that fixed, the impact from the trees loosed some steering bolt so my stem had about an inch and half of up and down movement. So I limped the last lap and half.

P-town is the 19th, last race of the year. The doctor told me not to ride for about a month (didnt stop me), Adam thinks he can so we willl see what happens.

independent rear suspension set up, it was definitely trick.

RobZ_450R
11-09-2006, 05:02 AM
It was a bolt on IRS system made by Sonic Off Road. That thing just soaked up all the small stuff.

duke416ex
11-09-2006, 10:12 AM
How did it handle the large stuff though? And id it fade much towards the end of the race? I think a lot of people have been wondering how these kits would work and it would be great to have a full report from you.

RobZ_450R
11-10-2006, 04:10 AM
You still felt the large stuff - you will always feel that no matter what you have for suspension. I could not tell that much fade at all from start to finish. Here is a nice example: After the Moose Run in June I like to have died. I was soo beat up & tired. I was using my normal suspension at that race. During the Race I had the IRS on & I felt like I could have went right back up to the starting line for another run after I got the checkers.

Overall it did soak up the huge stuff better & eliminated all of the small stuff. The only thing I would have done different would be to spend more time setting up the front suspension to match the rear & confirmed my gearing choice. I only had about 2 hours of ride time on the system before I raced it - so if I had more time, I would have been able to make it handle a whole lot better.

Alot have expressed concern with the routing of the chain on the bottom of the front a-arm mount. Did you have any issues or marks from the chain hitting the chassis? it just seems extremly vulnerable to me.

Do they have any sort of skid plate in the works?

RobZ_450R
11-13-2006, 05:20 AM
Yeah, I had a concern with the chain routing as well. Although, I did not have any rubbing issues with it. I did tell Andy from Sonic Offroad that I didn't like how close it was to the arm. I told him, that he should throw a chain guide on it in that area to prevent a rub. He does have a skidplate for it. I just have not seen it yet.
