My best friends truck I bought.

1987 Dodge Dakota, 4 cylinder, 5-speed stick
160,000 miles.
1 10 inch sub(Rocks loud, The Fear Factory double-bass!)
Head unit/CD player
Pioneer 5 inch door speakers
Brand new tires
1.5 inch drop ($1000 in front end for random stuff)
New spindles
New rotor
Bed liner
New brake pads
New rear brakes

Prolly more stuff I forgot. Got it for $2850. Has lots of miles, but I know the whole history of the truck, since my friend drives it all the time. Not fast but its a truck, I don't buy a truck to race it.

Somethin to haul the 250r around on

From our house to our main riding spot Flat River 1/2 tank of gas in this '$12' vs. 1 1/2 tanks of gas in my dads F-350 'A LOT! LoL, prolly $65'

24mpg on average

Fun to drive and Crank up the music, Mushroomhead/Fear Factory all that good stuff.

Yup, just got somethin so I thought I'd share.

you probly have the 5.2liter 318 motor, I dont think they had the 5.9liter in anything but the r/t that year-but I could be wrong:ermm:

12 MPG. Could just be my truck too. It was carbuerated. It ran rich. I bought it with 30k on it from my grandpa and he said it was like that from the factory.

I tried plug and wires
exhaulst
airfilter

I talked to some guys at the dealership who showed me how to bypass the emisions stuff on the carb (hidden adjustments) and that didn't work ether. The guy i sold the truck to at the dealership said he had one almost exactly like it and that is how his was too.

Didn't matter if I had 3 quads loaded on a trailer or no quads always averaged 12MPG

the v6 they put in the dakota uses more gas than a v8 does. in my 97' dakota i had with the 318 in it i got between 14 and 16 if i was lucky. my buddy had a v6 in his and it was getting relatively the same mpg with alot less power. and another friend had a 360 in his ram and it got better mpg than both of us! :eek2:

damn I was hoping it would be better. I will prob try to lean the carb out some. Cause it is rich now so I will see how it is after plugs and such. damn. I hope its a little higher, just a little.

it the complete opposite for me my 2001 dakota with a V6 and it got about 17mpg and my 98 dakota with the 5.9L V8 gets between 12-14.

my dads 95 dakota SE gets like 18mpg...seems like thats what all the cars in my house get:
dakota, crossfire, 560sl, seqiuoa all get 18 to the gallon or so....which is weird, the celica gets like 36 tho lol

the dakota is nice, lots of power, can go through anything and can haul so many corts of wood at once its rediculous...great work truck

yes it would:devil: there is a guy around here that has a 91 standard cab short box 2wd. used to have the mighty 3.9 in it:blah: now its got a wimpy little 440 crushing the framerails:D 5-speed, ford 9'' rear. he wanted to trade me straight up for my 93 ram before the motor went on me. i just about did the trade, but my brain overruled the little kid inside of me:p just wtf exactly am i going to do with a truck like that? for cruising it'd be awesome. for driving all over the poconos for work in the winter?? it would suck some major arse:blah:

but definately, a nice 360 would scoot that truck along nice. i nearly did the swap in my old dakota. was looking for a motor/tranny..then i went and totaled the darn thing.

Yeh, we always told him to put a 360 in it, he's like, "I got one sitting under my desk in my garage." It was a short block, so still needed a lot, but he never did it. And its great for gas mileage. And if want something fast, I just gotta jump in my 5.0!

Just went to the seed house and it wieghs 3100lbs

24.5 mpg with runnin it hard and 30psi in tires.

Now there is 40psi in tires and I am trying to drive low rpm, take it easy.

Now I can finally get plates I want, cuz truck plates go Numbers, then letters

89 250R

Haha, finally I got the choice!

Man, the subs make it feel like I'm at a concert, The double bass kicks my ***!
