on my 05 yfz 450 as you may know the steering shaft comes down and splits to two for the control arms, at this point before going out onto the arms the pivot points each have a bolt and safety reatainer pin, i can move these bolts by hand but the pin keeps it from falling off,, is this correct, i did'nt want to tighten it down and damage the rubber fitting above it. any knowledge ? anyone ?
thanks,:eek2:

I'm not totally sure what your asking. The retainer pin your mentioning are cotter pins. The make it so if the nuts come loose they don't fall off and you loose your steering totally. You need a pair of wrenches to tighten them up. One for the bottom and one where the rubber boot is. Only the open end will fit on top though. Just be careful not to tear the boot. If you need more help pm me or something and i'll get a pic from my YFZ and help you out.
