Turns the same way as the lock nut. Its on the same threaded sleeve so it has to turn the same way. Dont forget to turn it out enough to get at the c clip.

It turns the oppisite way. Which ever way loosens the locknut, turn the other one the oppisite way.

the left side (larger nut) you want to turn counter clockwise so it loosen it from the locknut and take it towards the brake rotor. Then turn the other smaller locknut the same way (counter clockwise towards the brake rotor) so you can remove the locking ring clip that is under the nut. Then turn the smaller locknut clockwise to remove it from the threaded part and slide the threaded section off the spline.

I found out why you check your back axle bearings the other day. oops. new lone star carrier with grease zerk and 4 bearings on the way...
