I noticed today when the 05 400EX is cold and almost won't idle on it's own yet, it makes this ticking noise for a few secs, then it stops for a few secs, then comes back for a few seconds, and keeps cycling like that. As soon as I give it throttle the noise disappears until it idles back down real low again. Once the machine warms up and idles a little higher it doesn't make the noise any longer?????

Do you have any aftermarket parts (internal parts)?

Just had them adjusted. I think if they weren't adjusted correctly it would make noise all the time, not just at cold, low, idle.

I was kinda thinking (hoping) that maybe it is idling so low that it isn't producing enough oil pressure to pump up a lifter??

The ticking when you first start your engine is the decompression mechanism. it ticks on and off untill your motor is up to proper operating temperature.
