View Full Version : 2006 GNCC Series Round #12 - Powerline Park - Preview & Live Race Coverage

St. Clairsville, OH – With the change of the seasons, the GNCC season is also reaching its end with only two rounds remaining. Round 12 will be held at Powerline Park, and after some rain on Thursday, it is suppose to be sunny the remainder of the weekend, which should provide for perfect track conditions.

The big news this weekend is the new Youth 13-15 Class being held in the Morning, and rumor has it that ATVA MX Pro Dustin Wimmer will show up on a bone stock LT-R450 he just picked up on Friday at Cernics to get in some seat time on his new ride for the next two years.

This is a local track for Chris Jenks after his second place finish at Unadilla and returning to the Podium he is itching for yet another Podium finish.

woo hooooo!!!!
i knew he could do it! ive been saying it all along, its not impossible to have a sport class on the podium, and this round there were 2, a blaster and a 300ex! i told you so!:D :D

in all the coverage, it seemed like there were alot of riders closer to the front that arent usually there, what were the track conditions like?

I have to say that watching that class with him in there and a few other NICE 300ex's is a fun one to watch ... especially the Start at this race....

The guy can ride the CRAP out of a Blaster.... CONGRATES to the SPORT class for making a great race to watch...

The Track was AWESOME IMO.... it was Slick but that is just Powerline.... it was not as muddy as one would think but the LAKE was one of those spots where I LUV THE MUD FLEAS.... they helped ya through the lake with where the best lines where each lap.... then the Mud Fleas at some of the Slippery hill climbs where a welcome site as well too....

But like i said the track was Great for TACK but it was slippery where it got grooved and the open sections where actually boring.... you would be in 5th gear tapped out for so long .... They where great areas to rest a little though.....

I really enjoyed the Track and cant wait for IRONMAN... now if i can learn to hold a holeshot for more than a few miles of the track .....

Mud Flea.....People who jump into any situation where a rider needs help dealing with a muddy section. They can easily be spoted standing knee deep in muck that would make a billy goat gag. They are under promoted as needed race equipment, and are usually paid with a muffled "Thanks" as the rider roosts away!

Excellent coverage, I checked it many times yesterday in between working.

Way to go Ballance, Joey and Harlen! I can still shoot more deer then all 3 of you combined, but ya'll got me when it comes to racing

I nearly ran over a two Mud Fleas standing in the middle. I don't know if they pointed me to the best line or the worst line. I just know I am glad I have 4WD.

they arent always the most trustworthy (its fun to see someone goes full out into a bad line and get stuck, lol) but they are dependable. the same ones hat point you up a hill they know your gonna flip down, or thru a mud line they know you wont make it thru, are aso the same ones that are gonna be there to help you get thru it

Congrats to Brent Sturdivant for leading the first few laps! Then only to tweak his frontend, which made it hard for him to handle but he fought hard to hold onto a 5th overall, WAY TO GO BRENT! We all know you will get up there soon enough. Look for a Bright future out of this kid.

You have to look for the People that are the Nastiest looking ... the ones that look like they have been swimming in mud.... they are the ones that will point you to a better line casue they are the ones IN THE LINE and Will help you if you do get stuck...

The ones you dont listen too are the ones that are sitting with their new shoes on and silk shirt.... They are the ones that will say "go to that line" as your day Ends.....

I always look for the muddiest person out there to point me to their line.... EVERY SINGLE one helped me this weekend....

and to be honest the KIDs are the ones that scare me the most, they want to see CARNAGE ... and the guys with thier girlfriends sitting on the side of a hill laughing... <<< I have ran those over before ... they stop laughing real quick....

dont listen to the redneck with the beer that is clean. but do listen to the redneck with the beer that is muddy. he is tired of pulling people out when they get stuck so he wants you to go the easiest way.

never listen to the guy with the camera. unless he is wearing riding gear. esp listen to him if it is dirty riding gear.

never listen to the kids that are clean. yoiu can normally trust the dirty ones because of what i said earlier.

Spectators are definitely under-promoted but there are few of us who have not been helped and greatly appreciate those mud fleas!!!!!There are always a few bad apples in every basket but for the most part they add excitement to our races I think is taken for granted sometimes. Imagine lining up and as the national anthem plays you look around and there is no one standing around the edges of the starting field. And as you plow through the worst mud section of the track there is no one to cheer or help. Or that monster hill climb is empty of anything but our machines. Our fellow racers are AWESOME and we are all like a big family but those spectators are just as important a part. They are the ones who cheer like you are doing something great when you can barely hang on. For me they give me a surge of energy during the race and encourage me before I ever get out there.
But for those who think it is funny to pay $5 (local) to $12 (national) to get into a race and then sabotage someone's race that cost them possibly hundreds of dollars...we are a tough bunch and we will still come back for more. And we are having way more fun than people who only get kicks out of other's misfortune!
I LOVE THIS SPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
