in our small town this morning another train bit the dust. this is the second one in a month. rotten ties the cause.

they were full of road gravel

How many trains have to derail before they figure out it's cheaper to replace ties than trains?:rolleyes: I assume railroads do track inspections every so often, I don't understand how this could happen.....twice!

wow, that is bad. i guess when they close the tracks down u will have another place to ride :devil:

That's what happens when you try to cut every nickel and penny you can. Cheap railroad ties don't have enough oil in them.

I noticed last time I went riding by my dad's house north of Las Vegas, a lot of the creosote ties had been replaced with concrete ties (pretty sure it was concrete, if I remember correctly). Maybe wooden ties are going away soon.

u saw the pic....no track, just smoooth riding. i dunno why they did it there, but it has been like that by me for like 30 yrs.
