okay, so i was changeing the axle bearings in my trusty old 300ex today, when i noticed that the swingarm was cracked right at the carrier ( ill post pics in am minute) so i need to know, is it possible to weld this back saftley with a mig welder? what it the swingarm made of on this bike? and finaly what is the easiest way to get the bearings out of the carrier?

I had this happen on my 300ex, the cracks kept opening up causing the carrier to slip and loosening the chain. I mig welded it but found it still cracked. You have to be careful welding it because any slag that gets inside will give you trouble. You need it smooth so the carrier will still slide in and out. Also, drill holes at the end of the cracks so they don't spread after you weld it. My final solution was to just buy another swinger on Ebay for about 70 bucks.

oh and when i drill the holes i do it after i weld right> thanks for your help.

one more question, how big of a hole does it need to be?
