anyone else ever have the idle adjuster break on the stock carb on there 400. Mine broke right now it idles fine wondering what I should do or if I have to do anything. Is there a way to adjust it if I take the spring off. I never worked with this before try to get some info. Before I tear into it.

I have never had a problem or heard of it. You talking about the spring that is behind the bolt that idles yer quad up and down?

I belive that keeps tension on the bolt so it dosen't vibrate in or out when riding and mess up your idle.

I would get a new one

well there is a problem because you turn it and the idle does not change now if someone has an ANSWER let me know.

there is a tab inside that the screw sits against. mine broke too. adjust idle with the throttle cable and it will be fine. its a common thing to break and you can't get that part new.

The flexible cable on my idle adjuster broke. I just took it all off and adjust my idle right at the throttle stop screw.

The throttle stop screw is on the carb. It's the set screw that limits the downward travel of the slide. It's not a normal screw that you can turn with a screw driver. It's suppose to be connected to the flexible cable and knurled knob that you normally turn to adjust the idle.
