Get a Rev box. It improves the bottom and mid range performance. Its about 125 bucks. Or try a Edelbrock Raptor Carburetor. Its a little pricy at 675 dollars. Maybe a new airbox.
Or if all else fails bore it out to a 719.:macho

Avoid the Edlebrock carb. It's okay for a bolt-on bike, but if you have any plans for real motor work down the road, you'll be ditching the carb. You won't find a single known builder using the Edelbrock. They all go straight to dual 39FCR's. Aftermarket CDI boxes are a waste of money as well. I've seen dyno's of a Dynatek selectable timing controller and between the four curves, there was less than 1 hp and 1 lb/ft. variation. Your best bet is to step up to a set of dual exhaust, a Stage 2 cam and springs and a set of 39FCR's. You said it's a 686 now, so I'm assuming the compression is already jacked up over a stock engine. If it's the stock ratio, drop an 11:1 slug in there, too.
