I have been looking locally for a size 42 pilot jet for my 2005 EX and cannot find one. The only place I can find one on-line is at Chaparral. They want $4 for the jet which seems reasonable enough but then they want $12 to ship it. It's not that I do not have the extra $12, but that just seems totally and completely ridiculous for something that could be sent through the mail. Any suggestions on where else I should look? I am also assuming that the size 42 jet is the Series 21 jet. Please confirm. Thanks in advance.

I just went to the local honda shop and got the 42 pilot jet and a 155 main. they had em for 3 bucks a piece. I wanted a 158 main, but they were out, but they said they could order one and have it be in, in a few days.......... i'd just ask them to get one for you.......... 12.00 shipping is nutz.

How about C&D?? They'll get you the correct jet, and I'd be willing to bet that the shipping will be less than $12. :eek2:

Any dealer can get a 42 pilot.

Stock 400EX carb uses the less common Series 26 pilot jet. Although, a Series 21 will work just fine.

The only difference is the length of the jet from the threads to the slotted end. The longer Series 21 fits in a 400EX carb without issues.

ETA: tried some different images...hopefully they are showing up now.

Thanks for the replys everybody. I found one at my local Yamaha jet ski shop. It was $5.99. Probably twice what it should be but better than $16 at Chaparral. Glad to hear that the series 21 jets will work just fine.

yes, the 21 is just longer

HMF insists that you MUST use a S.26 but when I asked them why they say that I got a terse BS answer.

Jubilee,

Holy smokes! Hopefully you did not hit a 35 foot sand hill at 97 MPH. We would still be waiting for you to land. Sounds awesome. I ended up just going to Croom and hooking up with a few strangers to ride. My buddies backed out on me at the last second but I went anyways. I still really want to go to Ocala. I will be riding this Sunday if you guys are going.

Let me know,

Mike
