ok this is a newbie ?i just bought a 06 kfx400. they other day before i went riding i noticed in the airbox drain plug there was fluid in it so i pull it off and drain it on a papper towel looked like oil( yellow gold color and felt like oil)is this part of break in or somthing wrong or simply oil from the air filter has any one had this happen and how could this happen.only put about three hours ride time on it.thanks

It may just be run off from your filter. When they put them together at the dealer they use a cheap thin spray oil to soak the air filter with. It might have just oozed off.

if its filter oil its prolly sticky as hell. unless the dealership is using motor oil on there filters.

thanks thats what i was thinking but was not sure well the liquid was not sticky was exact texture as motor oil. is this somthing i should worry about getting checked before the next time i go ride.

The dealer was prally using motor oil to oil the filter. I would wash it and put some good airfilter foam oil on it. I like klotz filter oil. its in a spray can. Ride it and see if that helps.

Also check you engine oil:D

my service manual recomends regular motor oil for the air filter.

you can use motor oil if u want. but theres no harm in using the spray can stuff either. i think it works better. but its jmo. if you clean ur filter like ur supposed to it wont matter that much but the can **** will deff. last longer and grab more dust and dirt from entering ur intake.
