what hot rod next??

I am finishing up my hot rod lawn mower.. I want something fun to build.. something fast.. cheap, with suspension.. not atv, not car.. possibly go-kart... is it possible to buy a go-kart for under 500.00 and put a fast engine in it for under 1,000./...

My friend bout a 8hp Manco Dingo for $150. You could prally fit a 450 engine or maybe a 650 dirtbike engine on the rear. Now suspension it just has Ballon Tires:D
