Looking at this rev box on ebay. This do anything on an 05 with HMF pipe and 13T front sprocket? Are these rev boxes safe for the bike?

don't waste your money...that is just a rebadged cdi from a honda 250 dirt bike, same as the white bros and some of the others.

essentially, unless your battery has a 110% charge, it will cause starting issues for you in any temps less than 70 degrees. here is why:

the cdi has a circuit in it that will prevent the sparkplug from firing if the rpms do not reach a certain point. for arguements sake, and not using actual numbers, the point is 1500rpm. if the rpms are not at 1500, then the spark plug does not fire. the 400ex starting rpm is just above this point at say, 1550 rpm. should the rpm's not hit that magic 1500, then the bike will not start. temperature, slightly discharged battery, bad gas, all of these and more could possibly drop you below that magic 1500 rpm's.

i found this out after killing a battery and then stealing a brand new battery from my wifes 300ex and killing it too...as soon as i took out that box(a white bros), and put the stock cdi back in, along with a new battery, the bike started right up and never had another problem with starting it.
