Oil change every 20 hours
Tranny oil change every 40 hours
Valve inspection/adjustment every 20-40 hours

Regularly lube the chain

Regularly clean and reoil the air filter

When the quad starts smoking regularly, its time for a new piston/new rings

Refer to the service manual for a maintenance schedule.

Thanks!

What should I use to lube the chain?

I use this stuff called Chain Wax.

Its supposed to prolong the life of the o-rings that are on the chains.

I also tried the recommended 80W gear oil, but that gunked up my chain too much and made everything extremely messy.

Forgot to mention in my previous post to also keep your chain adjusted within spec...which is 1 1/5"

I think he meant 1 1/2", not 1 1/5". Just to clarify!

Nope, right on the back of the airbox. 1 1/5"

In the manual it gives the exact spec's to keep the chain between, but I'm kinda a perfectionist...:ermm:

I don't mean to start something, but last time i checked there is no 1/5" marks on a tape measure. Just wondering how you measure it then. I don't have a 450, yet, but my 300 is supposed to be around 1 3/8".

just make sure you check the oil every ride because if you are low then you will break something in the crank case because all I hear is that happening in these forums

It does say 1 1/5" on a sticker on the back of the airbox. 1/5" is about 3/16" (close enough anyway), gotta love those fractions!!:D
