I was just wondering if aftermarket shocks from a 400ex would work on a 450r. I have a 2004 450r and would like to update the suspension, but it seems their is a lot more available for sale for a 400ex. Let me know if this works?

Yes, they will work.
Question is "Will they work well?"
In stock length, 450 R shocks are 7/8" longer than EX shocks. Front end will sit lower.
Also, you'd need to consider rider weight, and a-arm length from lower shock mount to spindle (Ex vs. 450R) and how that would effect leverage.
