I have heard that this will work. I have a 450r shock also. I will ship it to your door for 150. It is in great condition and will make you a great shock. I have went to aftermarket and this is the reason to sale it. Let me know

I seen a pic of a 400ex with a 450r rear shock on a differant forum a long time ago. I think it might bave looked lower than stock but not sure.

I would just get your stock rear shock re dun by tcs or gt thunder.
My stock rear is redun by tcs and is way better and has almost a extra 1.5 travle (according to what tcs tole me.)

Spending that much money on your stock rear right now would yield better results. The450R rear is shorter than your 400s rear. Will bolt up...wont work right though. Send your stock rear out to get rebuilt and revalved

Also most stock 450R rears are easy to find under $100

It might help. More travle at lower ride hight. I think it would be better. Wouldn't need a elka/gt thunder link then.

My rear stock 400ex was rebuilt by tcs but the ride hight is still a little to high in the rear. But for $450 you could get a used elka.

How on earth would you get more travel? The shock itself physically has less shaft travel. There is NO way. It has more wheel travel on the R because of the swingarm length and linkage setup. Putting 450R fronts on a 400ex although not the greatest is still an OK mod in my eyes but the rear is a no no.

As far as having it rebuilt and still having it too high, that is a problem you should discuss with your shock builder. What have you done to try and adjust it yet yourself though? Ive had good luck with GT Thunder rebuilds as well as my current TCS rebuilds. I also had an elka dual rate rebuild on my 400 and liked that as well.
