does anyone know for sure if the rear grab bar is the same on these 2 models?

a buddy broke his on his 07 450 and needs another one

Yes it's the same I have a 07, everything is same as the 06.

after market is cheaper,stronger, and in my opinion look better.

I agree. I broke mine off a few months back and got a AC grab bar. The 06-07 AC G/B has the mount for the slip on muffler too. I was gonna get one of the real big ones, but was afraid of tweaking subframe (TOO strong grab bar), instead of the grab bar breaking...
I believe the only changes to the 07 were a leak jet(?) mod for the carb. Otherwise 100% the same
