Besides the plastic, has Honda made any other changes to the 300ex from first year 93 to what the bike is now? Is there any one year that is the year to have?

Thanks.

Nope. Mechanically it's all the same from 1992 to 2003.

Thought someone told me the carb size was upped by a mm or two the later years and a few other small tweaks, but I could be wrong.

I wasn't aware of any changes, and the manual doesn't list anything other than the 29mm carb for the 300EX, which is the same size as a 250X, but not the same carb as the 250X.

The stock carburetor is a 32mm. One of the dealers here told me between the 1999 and 2000 models there were some design changes on the carburetor

I have the service manual right here in front of me for 2001 and it says that the throttle bore is 29.0mm. Don't believe everything that the dealers tell you, they just want to make a sale.

I'm just posting what I've been told by many others and what is also posted on Honda's site

The guy is right. My friend had a 93 300ex and I had a 2000. He had a 29mm and mine is a 32mm. We done some checking and found out around 97 or 98 they change. Go to www. Service Honda.com and look up the carb for the different years. I junked the 300 motor now I have a XR650 motor.
