high idle speedd

My 400ex is idleing really high and when i put it into gear and letthe clutch out it will go without even hitting the gas. would this just have to do with the idle screw or does it have something to do with me adjusting my valves prior to starting it. I tried adjusting the idle on the carb but it didnt change whatsoever.

check the throttle wire and make sure it is not to tight. keep spinning the idle adjuster till it makes a difference, maybe u have a loose jet or something. u might have a hole in the intake tract between the carb and intake port. there r a nuber of things, but if the throttle cable is good and the idle adjuster is not helping, then idleing errotically is a lean condition
