i've pulled my factory header pipe to grind down the welds on the inside...but i dont see any.:huh
from what i've read on previous threads they are supposed to be down in the ends of the header pipe about and inch or so from the end. but all i see are a few little weld spots about the size of a couple grains of sand...very small not really seeming to block any exhaust flow.
am i looking in the wrong spot, or did i just get luckey with mine not being over welded?
thanx

The welds are located inside the flange that connects the header to the engine block. Remove the four bolts and look inside. You should see them there.

So they are not really on the pipe, they are on the engine. I just happened to look at my bike yesterday and asked where are the welds? Makes sense they are on the engine.

The welds are inside the header pipe at the flange. The weld is what connects the thin metal piping to the flanges that mount to the motor. See the red in the pic?

thanks for the pic bornonfire, i know what your talking about now...i'll check it out when i get home today.
but i think mine really wasn't that bad, i guess every little bit i can clean out the better.
thanks again for your efforts on the picture.
I think some of the headpipes are signifigantly worse than others as far as that weld goes..

Mine were flush to the header.
