what would make a bigger and better difference a carb or stage 2 hotcams....its for a 406ex it has a full pipe, ported and polished, jetted, no airbix lid.... and if a carb which one

Cam first. The stock 400ex cam is quite mild.

so you have all that and a stock cam? IMO you need to do the cam before the carb. get a cam, and do the carb later down teh road.
